This paper presents a novel tool for optimizing floating offshore wind farms based on weathervaning turbines. solution is grounded the ability of assembly (wind turbine plus floater) to self-orientate into direction, as this concept allowed freely pivot single point. passive yaw potential currently in demonstration phase. A genetic algorithm proposed levelised cost energy by determining geographical coordinates points (i.e., position over which can rotate self-orient incoming direction). tailored evaluation module take account motion around point depending direction. The results obtained show suitability method solve addressed problem under realistic conditions. Additionally, influence feasible region defined plot and maximum area occupied farm design are also analysed test cases.
